The Big Man and the desk that stands up

The Swedish one just put out a new £229 desk that goes up and down at the press of a button. The Big Man had a look. Fancy motor. Same old question about the pictures.

“Right. So the Swedish one has a new electric desk called TRAVSPORT. Hundred and twenty by seventy. Oak-effect top. Beige legs. Two hundred and twenty-nine quid. It sits at 72 centimetres and stands up to 117. There’s a shelf at the back for your screen, cable bits tucked underneath, a child lock so wee fingers can’t send it flying, and it stops itself if it bumps into something.

“Fair play. That’s a lot of clever for the money. You can sit. You can stand. Your back gets a break. I like that.”

“Then I read the reviews. Smooth motor. Happy folk. And more than one person saying the build pictures could be clearer.”The Big Man, scrolling on his phone

“There it is again. Fancy desk that goes up and down… and folk still hunting for a YouTube video because step whatever looks like step something else.

“I’m not having a go at the Swedish one. They’re usually the gold standard. I’m saying even the gold standard can leave somebody stuck with a metal bracket and no idea where it goes.”

The Big Man’s tip: before you tighten anything, lay every part out in the order of the pictures and tick each one off. If a step feels wrong, stop. Don’t force it. One wrong screw early on is an afternoon later.

“That’s Clarity HQ in a nutshell. If you’re going to explain something, explain it properly. Plain words. Clear steps. No mystery brackets. Good instructions sell desks. They sell apps too.”

“Knowledge is power. And we’re giving it away.”THE BIG MAN
