Who we are
Clarity Fife (Business Clarity) is a small business in Fife offering websites and AI help for local businesses. Contact: use the enquiry form on our home page.
What we collect
When you use our enquiry form: your name, business name, phone number, email address and your message. If you're a client using the client area: change requests you send us. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies on this site.
Why
To reply to your enquiry and, if you become a client, to provide the services you've asked for. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and then performing that contract.
Where it's stored
The site and form submissions are hosted by Netlify, Inc., which acts as our processor. Netlify may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't lead to work are deleted after 12 months. Client records are kept for as long as we work together and as required for tax records afterwards.
Your clients' data
When we set up AI tools for a client, the client is the controller of their customers' data and we act as a processor under a written data-processing agreement. Most tools are opened in the client's name, with model training switched off where possible. The AI phone receptionist and its phone number are run on our account for the client, under the same agreement.
Business background checks
For a background check we look only at businesses, using public records such as Companies House, the FCA register and The Gazette, plus the business's own website, reviews and social media. Company directors appear only as listed on those public registers. We never trace or investigate private individuals and we do no surveillance. Reports are sent only to the client who asked for them.
Fact Check
When you request a Fact Check we collect your name, email, the claim text, any link you send, and an optional screenshot. Requests are for the free Quick Check while paid checks are coming soon. We use these only to run the check and reply. Screenshots and claim text are deleted when no longer needed for that check, and within 12 months if the request does not lead to ongoing work. We check claims using public information; we do not investigate private individuals.
Free Car Check
When you check a car, the reg number you type is sent to the official DVSA MOT History and DVLA Vehicle Enquiry services to get the vehicle's details. We don't store the reg numbers you check or link them to you. The results are public vehicle records, not information about the owner.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data by contacting us through use the enquiry form. If you're unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
